When Insight Isn’t Enough
I had a client who kept coming back with what sounded like the same problem.
"I just need to understand why I keep doing this."
She understood her history, her patterns… she could even tell me exactly where it came from.
But nothing changed.
Every session gave her another explanation.
Another insight.
Another layer of understanding.
And somehow… she kept ending up in the same place.
That's one of the reasons I taught this masterclass.
Because at some point we have to ask a different question.
Not "why does this keep happening?"
But "what has this nervous system never actually had enough support, safety or experience to do?"
That one shift changes so much more than people expect.
And it opened up some really rich conversations during the class.
We got into things like:
Why insight is sometimes the beginning of change… and sometimes the place change quietly stops.
Why healing a symptom doesn't necessarily change the life that got organized around it.
Why some clients don't need another explanation… they need a completely different experience.
Why movement often tells you something the story never will.
And why perception might be one of the most trainable clinical skills we have.
We kept coming back to real sessions… real moments inside the therapy room where seeing something differently completely changed what happened next.
Most of that conversation lives in the second half of the class, which is also the part I hadn't planned on teaching.
The replay is available now.
