The Intervention Isn’t Always “Now”
One of the strangest parts of becoming a better therapist is realizing that sometimes the intervention you know your client needs shouldn’t happen for another 2, 5 or even 16 sessions.
And that doesn’t mean those sessions in between are filler.
They are the intervention.
Since the Movement Vocabulary workshop, I’ve had so many therapists reach out and say some version of:
“I see it now. I know exactly what movement is missing.”
And I LOVE that.
Because that was the point.
To give you another way of seeing beneath the story… so you can notice when someone is living almost entirely from grasp, or has never really developed the capacity to yield, push, pull, or reach.
But then comes the much harder question:
Okay. Now when do I do something with that?
Because knowing your client needs to push doesn’t necessarily mean asking them to push today.
Sometimes the next several sessions are about helping them understand what you’re seeing.
Sometimes there’s attachment work first.
Sometimes there’s grief underneath it.
Sometimes skeptical parts need to trust where you’re taking them.
And sometimes you spend months quietly paving the road toward a movement you could see from the beginning.
That’s the difference I want to work on with you now.
The first Movement Vocabulary workshop was about learning to see these patterns.
In the Movement Vocabulary Implementation Workshop, we’re getting into what happens after you see them:
How to sequence the work.
How to know what needs to come first.
How to build a treatment plan around it.
And how to recognize when the most skillful thing you can do with the right intervention is wait.
Because seeing the right intervention is one skill.
Knowing what has to happen between seeing it and actually using it is another.
That’s the layer we’re getting into Movement Vocabulary Implementation Workshop.
And if you can’t make it live, you’ll get the recording.
